Sharpen your valuation edge with two renowned professors. Explore two executive valuation programs for finance professionals, investors, and decision-makers.
Financial skills are critical for any executive who is directly or indirectly involved in the decision-making process within an organization. Whatever investment you are considering, be it a wind farm, an airplane, an IT system, or anything else, you need financial skills to evaluate it.
In 2026, the Amsterdam Institute of Finance (AIF) offers two intensive executive programs in business valuation: Valuation (3 days) and Advanced Valuation (4 days). Together, they provide a rigorous, practice-driven foundation for professionals who want to move beyond rules of thumb and develop valuation judgment they can truly rely on.
Led by two internationally respected professors, these programs combine theory, real-world cases, and hands-on application to strengthen your valuation skills at every level.

Why valuation matters now
In an environment of economic uncertainty, capital constraints, and increasing scrutiny of investment decisions, valuation has become more critical than ever. Simplistic shortcuts and purely mechanical models can lead to costly errors and misallocated capital.
These valuation programs help you:
> Improve financial decision-making under uncertainty
> Understand the true drivers of value creation
> Apply first-principles valuation instead of rules of thumb
> Identify and challenge common valuation pitfalls
The result: more robust investment decisions, better capital allocation, and greater confidence in complex valuation discussions.
The Valuation Programs at a glance
Two complementary executive programs, one coherent valuation framework. Join one program or combine both for deeper mastery:
1. Valuation
With Prof. Matti Suominen
Improve your valuation knowledge and skills in three days
The Valuation program provides participants with an understanding of the key valuation concepts:
✔ Understanding the difference between the book value and the market value
✔ Free Cash Flows: crucial before making any acquisition decisions
✔ How to make investment decisions that enhance shareholder value
✔ Importance of future cash flows
✔ Net Present Value (NPV)
✔ The multiples method
During the program, the concepts are applied to practical business cases involving capital budgeting: deciding whether long-term investments, such as new equipment or facilities, are worthwhile. Download brochure | Enroll now
2. Advanced Valuation
With Prof. Kevin Kaiser
Gain new insights into company valuation
The field of valuation is full of shortcuts which may inadvertently result in damaging investment decisions. It is tempting to slip into simple mechanical processes without analyzing why you are doing things in a certain way. In the Advanced Valuation program, participants with experience in valuation explore the major elements of discounted cash flow valuation. They learn to:
✔ Understand the “why we do it that way” behind valuation concepts they practice daily
✔ Distinguish value creation from value destruction
✔ Differentiate between long-term value-creating strategies and short-term indicators, such as share price, earnings per share, market share, and revenue growth
✔ Conduct a data-driven, theoretically sound valuation
✔ Handle cross-border, emerging markets, and other complicated valuations
✔ Question common practices and identify common mistakes and misunderstandings
This program sharpens analytical rigor and equips participants to question assumptions rather than follow conventions. Download brochure | Enroll now
Who should attend
These programs are designed for professionals who value rigor over shortcuts, including:
✔ C-suite executives and senior decision-makers
✔ Investors, asset managers, and advisors
✔ M&A professionals and corporate finance leaders
✔ Strategy and finance professionals involved in investment decisions
Prerequisite: The Advanced Valuation program is intended for participants who already have experience with valuation concepts such as free cash flows, cost of capital, and CAPM, and who have conducted valuations in practice.
