The 3-day Progressive Wealth Management program is designed to give finance professionals a rigorous and comprehensive grasp of today’s individual and family investment landscape – from the foundations of the financial system to advanced portfolio management and advisory practice. Day 1

The Financial Services Sector and Industry Regulations

  • The Purpose and Structure of the Financial Services Sector: How the financial industry is organized – key actors and types of markets
  • Financial Services Regulation: How regulations aim to protect investors, maintain market integrity and support ethical conduct in financial activities (good governance)
  • Risk Management Process: Summary of the Risk Management Process with a discussion about the risks. Financial Crime Focus: multiple forms of fraud such as Anti-Money Laundering / AML and Know Your Customer / KYC

Asset Classes and Financial Markets

  • Classification of Assets: An overview with traditional vs. alternative investments
  • Cash and Near Cash: Typical short-term investment instruments
  • Foreign Exchange (FX) Market: How currencies are quoted and their use in a traditional portfolio
  • Bonds: Fixed income securities, their features, yield/price calculations and risk management (including spreadsheet use), as well as credit aspects
  • Equities: Ownership shares in companies, classifications, indices, styles and rights of shareholders
  • Real Estate: Real estate investment styles and valuation methodologies. Introduction of the related ESG components
  • Derivatives: Forwards, futures, and options; their purposes, pricing and valuation methods, and associated risk management considerations
  • Commodities: The main types of commodities, pricing theory and portfolio management considerations
  • Digital Assets: The features, opportunities and risks surrounding cryptocurrencies and tokenization

Day 2

Collective Investments

  • Investment Funds: From general characteristics to the detailed main types of funds, such as mutual funds and Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs). ESG-focused funds and challenges in ESG scoring
  • Beyond Investment Funds: Structured products, hedge funds, private equity with venture capital, commodity focused investments and the basics of Sukuk instruments

Economics and Investment Analysis

  • Macro- and Micro-Economic Theory: How national and global economic variables such as GDP relate to markets
  • Statistics & Financial Mathematics: Fundamental statistical tools for analyzing financial data and variability. Numerical techniques to deal with interest rates and the time value of money
  • Elements of Fundamental Analysis: Accounting basics, as well as key financial ratios and enterprise value measures
  • Technical Analysis: Main principles and qualitative and quantitative techniques, including those for trend following

Day 3

Investment Management

  • “All” About Volatility: Characteristics and approaches to estimating future volatility
  • Portfolio Management Process: The generalized approach to professional portfolio management, including the most common supporting models
  • Investment Strategies: Different active management styles associated with equities (including sector rotation) and fixed income (including ESG integration). Core-satellite or the inverse form
  • (Risk-Adjusted) Performance Measurement: Key measurement principles and the main ratios, including advanced ones
  • (Wealth Management) Operations: Client onboarding, trade settlement, custody and corporate action processes that support portfolio management. Operational risk

AI for Portfolio Management – Asset Allocation and Active Equity

  • AI in Asset Allocation: Data-driven models and machine learning to better address asset / market allocation matters
  • AI in Active Equity: Use of AI for stock screening, signal generation and factor-based strategies, complementing fundamental and quantitative analysis
  • Governance and Explainability: Model risk, validation and explainability to ensure alignment with client interests and regulatory expectations

Investment Advice and Beyond

  • Client Advisory Services: The different levels of advisory services and what they mean (starting from Do-it-yourself)
  • Investment Policy Statement: How to assess client objectives, time horizons and constraints to shape investment plans, resulting in an Investment Policy Statement
